In October Hannu Pro engineers travelled to Taiwan and Japan to explore development progress of advanced mobile WiMAX wireless telecommunication networks and familiarize themselves with NEC equipment manufacturing processes. In Taiwan Hannu Pro had a meeting with representatives of Taiwan's Institute of Information Industry, which manages and supervises deelopment of the WiMAX network, and also inspected the largest mobile WiMAX installation, developed by Tatung. It is planned that WiMAX coverage in Taiwan will soon reach 99% of its populated territory. Participating at tests, which involved 70 base stations, each capable of covering a 3km radius area, Hannu Pro was able to ascertain the system's ability to provide data tranfer rates of up to 5Mbps for mobile devices. Later Hannu Pro visited AWB - Taiwan's major manufacturer of customer premises equipment. During a one week business trip to Japan, Hannu Pro, jointly with the representatives of Hannu Pro customers interested in wireless telecommunications, visited the head office of NEC in Tokyo, the NEC research and development centre in Tamagawa, where they took part in WiMAX laboratory tests, as well as NEC manufacturing facilities in Fukushima and Gotemba to inspect the manufacturing process of Pasolink telecommunications equipment, computers, LED screens and DVB transmitters. The experience gained during the visit will help in wireless telecommunication development in the Baltic States.
