Grass Valley announces K2 Media Client improvements and new low cost Media Server
K2-SDA-22 is a new entry-level client that can be configured as a standalone K2 system with up to 550 hours of MPEG 8 Mb/s video or to reside on any K2 SAN. This 2-record, 2-play set configuration offers support for DV and MPEG (I-frame and long GOP) up to 50 Mb/s, digital audio and, new for K2 clients, two channels of analogue audio with audio monitoring and analogue composite video channels in addition to SDI. All standard K2 redundancy features are included such as RAID for storage, dual power supplies, and redundant Gigabit Ethernet connections.

Grass Valley to build tapeless HD news production & playout center for CET 21/TV Nova
Grass Valley, a business unit of the Thomson organization has been commissioned by CET 21/TV Nova, the leading independent broadcaster in the Czech Republic, to implement a new, completely tapeless HD news production and playout system for its news production center in Prague.

Grass Valley Mustang digital video processing chip launches at NAB 2007
Grass Valley, a Thomson subsidiary, will launch Mustang, an integrated chip capable of delivering high definition MPEG-4 signals using as little as half of the bandwidth of existing encoders. Grass Valley MPEG-4 AVC compression efficiency using Mustang will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, with premium quality HD at as little as 4Mb/s. Deliveries of Mustang-powered ViBE encoders will start in the second half of 2007.
